Though Captain Lee Rosbach has always been a vocal proponent of chef Rachel Hargrove's food — and has a soft spot for her famous French toast — his working relationship with the culinary pro has had its ups and downs.
On the December 14, 2020, episode of Below Deck, the chef even temporarily quit after seeing some outrageous demands from charter guests. (And she used more than a few expletives in her impromptu exit.)
But as viewers saw, Rachel later resumed her post and continued to impress guests with her impeccable cooking throughout the remainder of the charter season.
But after all the hiccups, would Captain Lee ever work with Rachel again? He answered the question on the February 15 finale of Below Deck Season 8, when the crew made an unexpected exit from the yacht due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Viewers saw Rachel and Lee exchange a fond farewell, during which the captain told Rachel: "you're a very talented chef. I enjoy it." And later, in his interview, Lee said: "Rachel's a piece of work. She is brilliant at her job. She's wound up a little tight, there's no doubt about that, but I don't mind that."
He continued: "She wanted a shot at redemption, and I thought she did herself proud. Now that I know what buttons not to push with Rachel, yeah, I'd work with her again."
The yacht boss also weighed in on his future with Rachel on the January 25 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. In the clip above, the captain says: "She's already made her mea culpa. I've always been a big believer in second chances, and she earned one."
