7 Times Padma Lakshmi Smouldered in Spice Tones

The Spices and Herbs author has a wardrobe filled with fitting hues.

By Jenny Berg

Padma Lakshmi appeared on WWHL last night in a pair of striking, chili-pepper-red boots by Oscar de la Renta. The hue was appropriate for the Top Chef host, who chatted up her book The Encylopedia of Spices and Herbs: An Essential Guide to the Flavors of the World. And, that's not the only time the beauty has worn spicy hues. In honor of Padma's tasty new tome, here's a look back at seven times she matched a spice rack—and looked like a total dish doing it.

1. Cloves

Last night in the clubhouse, Padma revealed that cloves are the best spices to bring into the bedroom. But, she wore the spice's orange-brown hue in the kitchen during an episode of Top Chef—Season 14.

2. Dill

Padma wore a fabulous, peacock-emblazoned jacket for a recent appearance at AOL HQ. And, since we've got spices and herbs on the brain: doesn't it look like the jacket was garnished with dill? Okay, maybe not. But here's a fact: this jacket was a hand-me-down from Padma's pal Susan Sarandon.

3. Chili Powder

In addition to those killer boots, Padma has a favorite fur coat in the same gorgeous shade of red. It would be tough to get chili wearing this. (See what we did there?)

4. Paprika

For a recent visit to the Today show, Padma bundled up in a paprika-hued scarf that was tinged with gold. Recognize those boots? Padma told Andy last night: "sometimes, I just walk around in these boots with a short nightgown."

5. Salt

So, salt is technically a seasoning. But Padma looked anything but bland in this fringed, beaded number from Naeem Khan at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in 2015.

6. Turmeric

In 2014, the super-taster stepped out to a Valentino event in an orange-yellow dress that brings the popular spice to mind. And even back then, she knew her way around a pair of knee-high boots.

7. Parsley

The gourmand looked like a bright sprig of parsley—except, okay, way more glam—during a 2014 outing to Costello Tagliapietra's runway show. Never has a foodie been so fabulous.
