The ongoing custody battle between Ciara and her ex-fiancé Future reportedly received a ruling Monday.
Sources close to the former couple told TMZ that Ciara arrived in court requesting sole custody of their son Future Zahir Wilburn, who turns 2 on Thursday. She reportedly told the court that Future, who has three other children with exes Jessica Smith, India J, and Brittni Mealy, respectively, "was a bad parent who was not present in the child's life," TMZ reported. She and her lawyer also "trash talked Future" and called him a "bad person," sources said.
However, the judge ultimately granted Future's request for joint custody, according to the report.
Ciara, who got engaged to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in March, has been at odds with her ex for months. She reportedly filed a $15 million defamation lawsuit against the rapper following comments he made about her parenting skills after a photo of Russell pushing baby Future in a stroller surfaced, and their custody battle in interviews and on Twitter, TMZ reported in February. The defamation case is still ongoing, according to the site.
Ciara and Future will next cross paths at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards on May 22. Ciara will be co-hosting with Ludacris, while Future is nominated for Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Album with Drake for their mixtape What a Time to Be Alive. Hopefully, someone else will read Future's name if need be.
