Dolores Catania never backs down from sharing a strong opinion, and that much is true even when it comes to the innermost details of her butt. She recently revealed in an interview that she's recovering from a Brazilian butt lift surgery, the very same kind of that a variety of Kardashians and music stars like Nicki Minaj are rumored to have had. Dolores opened up to Lookbook exclusively about the details of her June 21st surgery.
"What prompted me was being in the fitness world. I understand there are certain areas on your body that will not change no matter how much you work out. So having said that, I knew I needed help with my butt. Yes, with five hours a day working out my butt it could have improved, but that slight improvement would have not been worth the time for me nor the full improvement I wanted to see."
If you're wondering, Brazilian butt lift surgeries generally start with using typical liposuction techniques to suction out excess fat from areas like the stomach, hips, thighs, and even the back. The fat isn't discarded like an ordinary lipo procedure, but rather pumped directly back into the butt to give it a larger, firmer, and often much more pronounced rounded curve. Imagine going from a flatt butt to Kim K. in a matter of a couple hours. Going to the right doctor is everything, though, because the technique needs to be precise in order to avoid major scarring, lumps and bumps, and asymmetry. Even recovery is rough, with most patients being told not to sit on their behinds for several weeks at a time.
"We essentially suction fat cells from the tummy and or flank, I prefer flank, and then inject them into the buttock area in a manner that the patient has designed herself," explains Dr. Thomas Sterry, a Manhattan-based plastic surgeon. "There are a few intervening steps and the science is still evolving in terms which fat to use, how to treat it, and when to let the patient sit down again, but you get the basic idea."
"I did it in New Jersey although my doctor, Dr. David Greuner, has several offices in New York City and New Jersey through his practice NYC Surgical Center," shared Dolores. "I had it done at the New Jersey office for convenience but choose Dr. Greuner because he is one of the best surgeons not only in New York, but in the country. It is so important to go to a doctor that you trust."
While Dolores admits that her recovery was painful, it was "worth the few days of discomfort and bed rest" and even recommends the surgery to her friends in search of more pronounced derriers.
"I would highly recommend the surgery! Not only do I recommend the surgery if you are looking for something for your butt, but I highly recommend NYC Surgical Center."
Aside from stocking up on butt-showcasing outfits, Dolores suggests that Brazilian butt lift patients load their medicine cabinets up with arnica creams and gels, citing that it's her "cure-all" for plastic surgery healing. "Sitting afterwards kind of felt like I had two bricks in my butt, but would do it all again tomorrow."
