UPDATE (June 3, 2019 10:32 a.m. ET) Nearly two years after confirming their separation, Fergie has officially filed for divorce from Josh Duhamel on Friday, May 31, according to a docket from a Pasadena, Calif., courthouse.
"They took their time figuring things out and making sure this was the right decision," a source revealed to E! News. "They had a long separation to see if there was any chance of things changing. Over time, it became clear that they had made the right decision and that it was time to move on."
"They love each other dearly and they have a great relationship since separating," the source continued. "But they needed to finalize things so they could truly move on and close that chapter of their lives. There was no culprit, it was just time."

Another one bites the dust! On Thursday (September 14, 2017), Fergie and Josh Duhamel confirmed they are going their separate ways after eight years of marriage.
“With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year,” the couple said in a joint statement to PEOPLE. “To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public. We are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”
Together the couple are parents to 4-year-old Axl. PEOPLE reports that it's been some time since the couple was seen in public together.
Early in their marriage, in 2009, the couple was rocked by rumors that Josh had an affair with a stripper Nicole Forrester in 2009. He denied the allegations and Fergie later chatted about having to deal with it in the public eye in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2012.
"When you go through difficult times, it really makes you stronger as a unit, as a partnership. It does for us, anyways. Our love today is a deeper love, definitely," she said, via Us Magazine. "We're stronger today definitely because of anything difficult that's happened with us. We deal with it, we communicate; communicating's the most important thing."
