Here's Everything You Need to Get Your Garden Growing This Spring

These products are sure to make your garden grow…or at least make you look like a gardener while you try.

By Katie Leahy

Break out the shovel! Rake out the flower beds! Start weeding! Spring has sprung (or is trying to in certain parts of the country) and your flowers want to bloom already. As the saying goes April showers bring May flowers and boy, we have waited all winter for this moment.

When my husband and I moved from the city into a house in the 'burbs, one of the things I looked forward to most (other than an always-available parking spot in my very own driveway) was having a backyard with a garden. While I have always loved flowers, I have never been much of a green thumb and I thought, “Now is my chance to let my inner gardener shine!”

So I planted away—a variety of flowers, vegetables and herbs—and low and behold the flowers bloomed and EDIBLE food actually grew! Although it was only a tomato here and a zucchini there, I have to tell you I was pretty darn proud of myself. Let’s get serious, chopping a tomato for taco night that you picked in your backyard feels like you have accomplished something. Not to mention my kids loved watering and gathering our bounty (okay, bounty may be an exaggeration…but you get the idea).

To channel your own inner gardener, all you really need is a patch of grass and some basic tools and gadgets—and hey, it doesn't hurt if they are pretty as well. If you are starting from scratch or just want to refresh your gear, check out the below 15 products that the most novice or advance gardener is sure to find useful. Happy growing!
