Karl Lagerfeld's Reaction to Kim Kardashian's Robbery May Confuse You
The iconic designer didn't mince his words.
Historically, Karl Lagerfeld has had a good relationship with the Kardashian/Jenner clan. But, the remarks he just made about Kim Kardashian's robbery in Paris are a bit lacking in sympathy. In the wake of the incident—in which masked gunmen held Kim at gunpoint inside her Parisian apartment—the Chanel designer seems to think that the reality TV star is in part to blame for her own misfortune. Yikes.
Though Karl posted a note on Monday morning to express condolences for the traumatizing event ("we are all with you," he wrote) he then told reporters at his Chanel show that the KUWTK star should know better than to flash her jewels on social media. "'You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you," he shared with Reuters."If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on the net, you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room.”
He went on to comment on how the widespread news of the crime will affect tourism in the City of Lights. "I think it's a very bad thing for Paris, but I don't understand why she was in a hotel with no security," he said. "Image wise, I think it is very bad. We make all of these efforts to make Paris appealing and then this happens." It's tough to tell whether Karl is judging Kim harshly or is only scolding her the way a dad would—though even Caitlyn Jenner hasn't had a strong public showing on that front.
We can't say what went on in private conversations, but Caitlyn is getting heat for a Batmobile-centric post she put up yesterday.
