Maksim Chmerkovskiy Promises to Return to DWTS After Getting Surgery for Calf Injury

The dancer gave fans a positive update straight from the hospital bed.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is on the road to recovery after hurting his calf while rehearsing for Dancing with the Stars. He updated fans on Instagram with a post from the hospital on Tuesday, somehow managing to make that weird backless gown look good. In the capion Maksim writes, “Gettin' un-broken…” and shouts out Seeds Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, which is also where his fiancée and fellow DWTS dancer Peta Murgatroyd was treated after injuring herself before Season 21, according to E! News.

Even though Maksim has been sidelined, he’s still thinking about his dance partner, Glee star Heather Morris. Heather has been moving forward on the show with Andy Bersten, and Maksim congratulated her on moving forward with her new, hopefully temporary, partner.

“I'm so proud of @heatherrelizabethh for getting it done in an amazing fashion!” he wrote, “I'm sorry I couldn't be next to you, but I promise to work harder than ever and get my ass back to the ballroom as soon as humanly possible! HUGE (but not that huge) Thank You to @alanbersten for stepping in at the last second and doing a great job!”

But Maksim hasn't forgotten about his fans. He continued, “And finally, to all our fans... I've said in the beginning of the season that I was back because of how supportive you've always been to me and I promise that this isn't the last you've seen of me. I will make every effort to make you proud yet... In the mean time PLEASE VOTE FOR #teamMaksimumHeat !!!”

Who else works this hard from a hospital bed?
