Of Course, Donatella Versace Had The Most Glamorous Super Bowl Weekend Of All
She designed all three of Lady Gaga's halftime costumes.
Let's just put this out there: Donatella Versace's Super Bowl weekend was more glamorous than yours. (What, you think she sat on the couch eating chips?) The Italian designer was behind the weekend's most noteworthy fashion, and Lady D. celebrated in style.
First, she gave us a behind-the-scenes peek at her trip to Houston. In sporty pants rimmed with red leather, the designer got cozy in a private jet. Before takeoff, the designer made a quick video to warn us that her pal Lady Gaga's halftime performance would be "fierce." Speaking of fierce, in flight, the designer wore a full-on smoky eye, gold hoop earrings, and a ring that practically blinded us with its giant red stone.
Now, the leather-laced ensemble was merely casual travel gear. On game day, the fashion legend showed up at the stadium in a curve-hugging purple ensemble, with her smoky eye still intact.
But, Donatella's fashion genius was put on full display when Lady Gaga took to the stage. The singer wore not one, not two, but three custom looks by Atelier Versace. Shall we review?
Lady Gaga opened the show in a beaded, iridescent jumpsuit. (As one wears, when levitating over a football field.) She paired the look with embroidered boots, and both pieces were decked out in shimmering Swarovski crystals.
Later, Mother Monster changed into an embellished jacket that was drenched in gold.
What's the Super Bowl without some embroidered hot pants? The singer's final look mixed teeny, blinged-out shorts with a sculptural jacket.
And! Gaga wasn't the only Super Bowl weekend headliner to put Versace's magic on full display. At DIRECTV NOW's Saturday-night bash, Taylor Swift performed in a twinkly, fringe-y, and very short dress from the fashion house.
Now, who will Donatella dress for the Grammys this weekend? We can hardly wait to see.
