See The Fashion Community's Touching Response to the Orlando Shootings

Industry stalwarts such as Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren cried out for peace.

By Jenny Berg

On Sunday, the country woke up to the devastating news: yet another mass shooting had taken place. In the early hours of the morning, a gunman had entered Pulse—a popular gay nightclub in Orlando—and fatally shot 50 people. (50. It's unbearable.) Now on record as the deadliest shooting in U.S. history, the tragedy has people across the world reeling. The fashion industry stands with the rest of us in feeling despair, disbelief, and—even still—love, hope, and empathy. See insiders' touching reactions below, and click here to see how you can help.

Zanna Roberts Rossi, senior fashion editor at Marie Claire, posted a rainbow flag at half-mast.

Diane Von Furstenberg posted the world "Orlando" surrounded by hearts, and wrote: "Sharing the pain...praying for PEACE HARMONY LOVE."

Stella McCartney shared an image of a rainbow-striped kite, flying high in sunny blue skies.

"STOP THE HATE, PLEASE!," Marc Jacobs implored.

Model Elsa Hosk was "beyond heartbroken over the news." She urged us all to "look into ourselves and set examples to change the world."

Alessandra Ambrosio posted a pair of rainbow-striped hands forming the shape of a heart.

Makeup artist Vincent Oquendo, who counts Bella Hadid among his clients, urged his followers to "not to let anger and fear take over."

Behati Prinsloo Levine advocated for gun control.

"My truest desire is to live in a world where we are surrounded by love, understanding, peace and harmony," wrote Joan Smalls. "It's frustrating to know that hatred and simple-minded individuals exist among us."

Ralph Lauren posted an image of the American flag at half-staff, writing: "We stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ community, friends and family in Orlando and citizens of the world. Our hearts are with all of the victims and families of this horrific act of violence."

To accompany an image of rainbow stripes, Bella Hadid wrote: "Let's live in a world where we can love one another for our differences instead of discriminate & Hate."

"My heart breaks for Orlando and everyone affected," wrote Rachel Zoe.

Lauren Conrad posted a pink heart with the #PrayforOrlando hashtag.
