Padma Lakshmi Sizzles in Lingerie While Teasing an "Exciting New Project”
The multi-hyphenate continues to make business moves after her Top Chef exit.
Padma Lakshmi continues to heat up our timelines.
On Friday, April 19, the former Top Chef host returned to Instagram to tease an “exciting new project” that was on the horizon. And, let’s just say, she had no trouble grabbing fans' attention.
The multi-hyphenate hinted at the business move with a bathroom mirror selfie that made our jaws drop. Padma was seen rocking a makeup-free face, pulled-back hair, and a sleek black lingerie set that showed off her curves. The sizzling ensemble featured a corseted bustier with a plunging sweetheart neckline, thin shoulder straps, and a matching brief.
“I have an exciting new project for you very soon…,” Padma captioned the post.

Padma Lakshmi announces lingerie collaboration
The Top Chef alum didn’t provide details on what she had in store; however, she shared the selfie just a week after teasing her new lingerie line with Bare Necessities. Padma spoke about the collaboration in an April 11 feature in Harper’s Bazaar, saying she always wanted to create a collection of intimates but became increasingly motivated once her body began changing in her 50s.
“A lot of the bras that a woman who’s much more delicately endowed wears don’t work for bigger-busted women, but we still want to be able to wear low-cut blouses and things like that,” she explained. “You need to lift but also keep the boobies separated. If you just use a push-up, you have a line of four inches of cleavage, and that makes you feel square. Nobody wants that.”
Padma’s Bare Necessities lingerie line is expected to launch sometime in May.
Padma Lakshmi exits Top Chef after 17 years
The former model confirmed her Bare Necessities project less than a year after announcing her Top Chef exit. Padma began hosting the competition series in Season 2 (2006) and departed after Season 20 (2023). She explained her decision in a June 2023 Instagram post, in which she also thanked fans for “years of love and support.”
“After much soul searching, I have made the difficult decision to leave Top Chef,” she wrote. “Having completed a glorious 20th season as host and executive producer, I am extremely proud to have been part of building such a successful show and of the impact it has had in the worlds of television and food.
“After 17 years, many of the cast and crew are like family to me and I will miss working alongside them dearly. I feel it’s time to move on and need to make space for ‘Taste the Nation,’ my books and other creative pursuits.”
Padma — who earned multiple Emmy nods during her Top Chef run — was replaced by Season 10 winner Kristen Kish.
