10 Stylish Diaper Bags That Don’t Look Like a Baby Designed Them

When I was pregnant the first time around, all of my friends and family urged me to register for a diaper bag. “You need one!” I was told. “It’s essential!” So I checked out the options at the baby store and the department store and the big-box retailer and um, yuck. I hated all of them. First, because the patterns were bizarre—I found a mix of pastel fleur-de-lis-covered options and bags with goofy, child-like imagery on them. None were neutral enough to compliment my daily outfits. Second, the ones that did have palatable patterns weren’t useful enough—like, they were only messenger bags or they had no interior pockets to hold the litany of items you carry around when you have a newborn.
So, I opted to just rely on my regular totes that I’d been using successfully pre-kids. Bad idea. My tried-and-true purses were no match for leaking bottles, crushed snacks and one million spare pacifiers. It would take me ten minutes to find anything in there, because of the bag’s cut or lack of pockets.
Thankfully today the baby industry and designer bag industry have entered a marriage of sorts, where there are now a slew of sleek, super stylish diaper bags on the market that are also highly functioning. Some double as backpacks (hands-free!), some are totally water-resistant and all of them are easy on the eyes. Bonus: These puppies make great baby shower gifts for your pregnant friends!
