Leah Talks About Leaving Scientology

Another day, another revelation from Leah Remini about her time as a Scientologist. Now the actress is sharing that during her tenure working alongside Kevin James on The King of Queens, she felt pressure to try and recruit her co-star to join the Church of Scientology.

“They always tried to get me to, [asking] ‘Why is he not in? Why have you not promoted it to him?’ I was like, ‘Because he’s Catholic. He doesn’t want anything to do with it,’” she tells PEOPLE. “They let it go after a while, but usually you’d be expected to recruit, especially with somebody you work with for nine years.” (The church denies her comments.)

In addition to her work on the Emmy-nominated A&E series, Scientology and the Aftermath, Remini will be reunited with James this fall on his sitcom Kevin Can Wait, which will undergo a reboot for its second season to accommodate Remini's casting. As many TV fans may remember, Remini and James starred together on The King of Queens for nine seasons; the show ended in 2007.
