Fun Times
"Just imagine trying to pull the wool over the eyes of someone like Kelly Cutrone! NOT EASY, to say the least."
Hey Everyone, It's been a couple weeks since I've had a chance to post my thoughts on Kell on Earth, as I just got back from Los Angeles and was very busy producing yet another fashion show, for our fave client Alternative Apparel. It was their very first fashion show and was hugely successful, thank goodness! If you're interested, you can check it out at http://www.alternativeapparel.com/Fall2010RunwayShow/). I am very proud of our work on that one - especially because Kelly, Stefanie, Mike and I all put a huge amount of energy and collaborative effort into it and thus were able to garner a huge amount of coverage, along with excellent reviews from publications like the LA Times and Women's Wear Daily, amongst many others. Even after 12 years and hundreds of fashion shows, I still feel proud of the job that I do and the excitement of seeing the results.
And now here we are at Episode Number 8. It's been a fun being a part of Kell on Earth! Although we live it every day, it has been an interesting experience to see how our regular working lives have been shown on TV. It's been a wild ride! We have a strong, solid team here at People's Revolution now and in Episode 7 you got to meet some of the other members of Team Rev, including long-time employees Mike Vargas (in our LA office) and Pablo Olea, who makes a brief appearance but is actually a central member of our team and manages the NY showroom. You also got to meet our newest Account Executive, Grace Healy, who has been an excellent new addition - I especially like her because she brings no drama, has a great sense of humor and just wants to get the job done. You also see a bit more of Michelle Aselta, our Lifestyle Director, who actually sits next to me in the office and is my partner in crime in all things Twilight related and/or pop culture related. Did any of you notice the Taylor Lautner poster on our bulletin board? That was (jokingly) put up there by Michelle and me - we are the only Twilight fans in the office and posted it up during the New Moon launch last year. Fun times.
On this last episode, we decided to put together a surprise party for Kelly...but of course NONE of us thought it would actually work. First of all, since we all sit together in one office space, there is not a lot of privacy in our surroundings and therefore not much room for secretive talk. Secondly -- just imagine trying to pull the wool over the eyes of someone like Kelly Cutrone! NOT EASY, to say the least. Kelly always wants to know everything that is going on, so we knew we had to think up some kind of work-related story in order to get her to the party. We decided to hold it at one of her absolute favorite places, the Carlyle Hotel, so that at least getting her to the location might be a little easier. Robyn and I made up a story that a client was having an after-party for a charity event Stefanie and I had just worked on that took place just down the street, and that Kelly needed to come and meet us there for some face-time with the client. Of course, when Kelly got there she wanted to go only to the restaurant, and not to the suite where we were waiting for her (Robyn and I were texting each other the whole time so I knew exactly when they would arrive). Robyn had to wrangle Kelly (and probably guilt-trip her) to get her to the suite where she thought the clients were actually mingling. But to her REAL surprise, it was all of us waiting there for her! I think Robyn had the most difficult task of the night - her job was to get Kelly up to the room without too much in-depth explanation - and she did it! Great job Berks, can't believe our story worked. It was great being a part of that special night for Kelly.
Look forward to seeing where things go from here and thanks again for watching the show!
Peace & Love
