Dropping Jeffrey's Type-A Personality
Jeffrey is glad he relinquished control of Amber Valetta's room to Ross.
This weeks episode was a bit of a change from what you are used to seeing from me on Million Dollar Decorators. I dropped my Type-A personality and let Ross take all control of Amber's house.
It's not easy to let go of creative control but in this case it worked out really well. The room turned out beautifully. Amber loves her bedroom and Chip does too. It was a little scary there for a moment but what you didn't see was later Chip laying on the daybed looking up at that great ceiling painted by Kelly Porter and finding things in the abstract shapes. When he realized how playful the room was he was sold.
Their bedroom is a space that they really get to interact with and that makes a successful design. Also because they pushed the envelope they got a space that is more memorable and certainly unique, which I think is important in design. I like the design and as I said in the trailer to this episode, "Ross has found his voice and it’s louder than ever." It will be interesting to see what he does next. I'm just happy he is not so obsessed with beige anymore.
I can't believe it's Thanksgiving. I wish you all the happiest week. I hope that you spend the time with loved ones and have a relaxing week. If you are traveling I hope you stay safe and avoid dreaded Turkey Day delays.
This week I'm focused on the deep gratitude I feel for my family, my friends, my wonderful clients and the crazy life that I am so blessed to lead. Mostly I am grateful for Chessie, Coal, and Ross, and that our little family has made it through another crazy year. It's nice to know as the year draws to an end that we get to take some time off and enjoy each other's company. We are very lucky to have each other.
We have so many exciting things on the horizon we can't wait to share with you all. Keep watching. . .there is a BIG surprise in store!
