When Josh Flagg arrived for a listing appointment in Bel-Air, he immediately knew he was stepping into a breathtaking piece of history. "It's just so perfectly preserved," the Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent said as he toured the 8,200-square-foot abode on the show's September 9 episode. "It looks like a Wallace Neff...these never come up."

Built by Neff in 1928, the home had many of its original features including "thick walls, really heavy plaster, [and] hand-painted details," Josh explained. Noting Neff "was probably the most prolific architect of the 1920s," Josh added, "You couldn't do this today. You could, but it would cost so much money that no one would ever do it."

Several Hollywood icons, including Peter Bogdanovich, Richard Brooks, Diane Keaton, and Orson Welles, had previously lived in the home. Still, Josh felt finding the next buyer could be a unique challenge. "As fabulous as that house is, you need to find somebody that really appreciates that kind of home," he said. "Like, I would buy a house like that. But there's not a lot of people today —  they want these modern white boxes." 

After listing the house for $17,450,000, it eventually sold for $16,455,000. "There's a limited supply for this kind of home," Josh explained. "Which is why this home is priced the way it is."

"Now I know we're in a Diane Keaton home because this is her signature thing, the tile work," Josh said as he checked out the reclaimed Spanish tiles in the kitchen. In addition to the updated appliances, Josh was a fan of the room's "1920s hanging chandeliers." Just steps away, a living area had a fireplace that also featured the unique tiles. 

A home theater Bogdanovich had built in the house was later turned into an art studio by Josh's clients. Another room that Josh was particularly impressed with was a living room with vaulted ceilings. "This is like a ballroom," Josh said as he checked out the room's latched fireplace screen. "They have this in Santa Barbara at the Biltmore."

While looking at one of the house's 9 bathrooms, Josh declared, "This is just perfect, right out of the 1920s." 

The home had 7 bedrooms, including a primary suite added by Keaton. As Josh walked around one bedroom with views of the outdoor space, he said, "This is so pretty. It really looks like the Biltmore."

The home's original pool, landscaped garden, and enclosed courtyard created a dreamy setting.
