Katharine McPhee and Meghan Markle go way back — seriously! When she moved to London temporarily to take on the starring role in Waitress on the West End, David Foster's fiancee shared a photo of herself with the duchess and explained their connection.
"Meghan and I did musicals together as kids," the singer revealed. "She grew up to be the Duchess of Sussex and I grew up to star on the West End, so same life if you ask me." Twinning!
And in more shocking coincidences, the childhood pals just happened to be at the same event for WE Day last week. Backstage, McPhee ran into Markle and the two caught up quickly on lost time. "She was lovely and she remembered me, she remembered my sister more specifically because they were in the same class, and she said, ‘I’m just sitting around waiting for the baby to come,’" McPhee shared with The Evening Standard.
It helps having connections to the West End. If the duchess would like a pair of tickets to Waitress, McPhee is more than happy to help out. "I’d like her to come to the show, but no pressure on her," she said. "I’m hoping she will and I’m going to invite her through some mutual friends."
Maybe Markle will take her up on that offer: There's nothing like taking in a musical to help pass the time. Meanwhile, the royal baby is set to arrive sometime in April; read all about Markle's birth plan here.
