One Relationship Expert's Theory About Miley Cyrus’ Fling with Kaitlynn Carter
It was a whirlwind romance for Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter, but then it was quickly over.
Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter broke up after a shock romance that also spelled the end of Cyrus' marriage to Liam Hemsworth.
“[Miley] and Kaitlynn spent every day together and it just wasn’t anything that Miley wanted to continue doing," a source told PEOPLE of the quickie romance. "She wants to focus on her career.”
The two had been photographed after each announced their respective splits from their partners in August (Carter was married to Brody Jenner).
Then Cyrus and Carter embarked on a PDA tour around Los Angeles, where they became a daily paparazzi catch.
But it all ended so abruptly. Rori Sassoon, relationship expert and co-founder of upscale matchmaking agency Platinum Poire, has some thoughts about that.
"Both Miley and Kaitlynn have been long-time friends and were there for each other when they both separated from their spouses around the same time. A rebound, spontaneous fling, cry for attention, or something else?" she asked.
Sassoon explained: "It was speculated from The Hills that Brody and Kaitlynn had an open marriage and may have engaged in threesomes. There’s no surprise how this got started. As women, we feel that we have our female friends to lean on when the men in our lives disappoint us. So, I’m sure there was already a friendship between Miley and Kaitlynn during their rebound, and before things got hot and heavy, which brought them closer."
Sassoon theorized Cyrus' 10-year relationship with Hemsworth became too "normal" for her wild-child ways.
"Miley was in a 10-year romance," she explained." For her personality, she keeps things exciting and can’t stay caged for too long. She was in the mood for a different flavor to mix things up and Kaitlynn was already an intimate confidante."
As for the split, Sassoon noted when you mix sex with friendship, it usually doesn't end well.
"You know what happens when sex gets added into a friendship," Sassoon said. "This was definitely a rebound on both of their parts. After all, we are talking about Miley — she is into shock value. Kaitlynn is a friend, an experiment."
There you have it. Here's to Cyrus — and Carter, Hemsworth, and Jenner — finding love and happiness.
