Brandon Maxwell's Fashion Show Was a Celebration of Women from Start to Finish

Essentials meet luxury in the Bravo's Project Runway judge and designer's latest collection.

Classic, sleek, and sophisticated are the exact words we'd use to describe Brandon Maxwell's Fall 2019 ready-to-wear collection. The Bravo's Project Runway judge presented his latest assemblage at New York Fashion Week on Saturday, February 9, and we want it all.

This season, Brandon went back to basics by designing a variety of essential pieces such as tailored trousers, pantsuits, and LBDs in luxurious silk and velvet fabrics. While a majority of the designs appeared in black and white, Brandon added a touch of color to the selection with a few bold pieces in red, green, and aqua. In an industry still struggling with a lack of diversity, Brandon used his platform to highlight women of all backgrounds. He opened his show with seven women of color walking down the runway back-to-back. The models wore subtle makeup and their hair slicked back, allowing the designs to take center stage.

Not only did Brandon have powerful women grace the catwalk (including The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills daughter Bella Hadid!), he also had a few trailblazers cheering him on from the sidelines. Ashley Graham, Nicky Hilton, and his Project Runway cast members Karlie Kloss and Elaine Welteroth all showed up to support the designer.

One of our favorite parts of the show had to be when Brandon brought his mama on stage with him to take his bow.
