Venita Aspen Has a Genius Holiday Decorating Hack: "No Tablecloth, No Problem"

The Southern Charm fashion expert applied her fabulous taste to her holiday tablescape — and you don't even need a tablecloth to copy it.

By Jenny Berg

Venita Aspen has the most beautifully decorated home, as you can see in the clip above. So naturally, when the holidays roll around the Southern Charm influencer has a knack for the most beautiful decor — even if it's not the most traditional. In a recent Instagram Story, the Charleston tastemaker shared her hack for creating a festive tablescape, even when there's not a tablecloth in sight.

Venita Aspen's Creative Holiday 2023 Tablescape

In her December 21 Instagram Story, the fashion buff shared a photo of a table setting that was still in the works. (She hinted that she would share a photo of the final setup when it was done.) The table was covered with wrapping paper that had a plaid red pattern.

"No tablecloth no problem," Venita wrote in her caption. "I used wrapping paper for this [soon-to-be-on-your-feed] table setting." The Story, in which she tagged Ciara Miller, also showed her setting the table with three white taper candles in elegant black holders. In the background, a buffet table was decorated with a glowing garland wreath and a menorah.

There were also a few pieces of oversized artwork, including one that had a list of very holiday-spirit-like words. Love, joy, peace, and faithfulness were all on the list.

Venita Aspen's Charleston Home

While Venita has been on vacation in New York City recently, she has a gorgeous home to return to back in Charleston.  In the video above, Venita leads a tour of her abode, which used to house another Southern Charm cast member. In 2022,  Venita told BravoTV.com that her pad used to belong to Shep Rose

“I got it blessed. I got Shep’s old apartment blessed three times,” the Southern Charm-er quipped at the time. “Three different denominations. Not sure if that’s acceptable or not, but we did it.”

She joked: “The first couple of days, I was like, OK, are girls gonna knock on the door and be like, ‘Is Shep still here?’ But luckily, I didn’t have to deal with that.”

In her house tour, Venita notes that she has "fresh flowers delivered every week" to keep things "lively."

She also reveals how she turned her dining room into a walk-in closet to store all her incredible outfits. She then takes us into the beautifully appointed kitchen, where the white cabinets have been spiced up with gold hardware, and the plain walls are now covered in blue-and-pink patterned wallpaper.

"I completely flipped this kitchen upside down," Venita says as the video shows more of the space, showing off an adorable nook in the corner with a bench and several blue and white pillows. Another blue piece? An adorable, retro-style baby blue refrigerator.
