Alexis Bellino and John Janssen Get Engaged on 9-Month Anniversary: "So In Love"
RHOC friend Alexis Bellino shared that John Janssen proposed during a romantic getaway in Santa Barbara.
Alexis Bellino and John Janssen are officially engaged after nine months of dating.
The Real Housewives of Orange County friend took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 28 to share the news. Alexis' post featured a photo of her and John happily embracing, and if you take a look at her left hand, you'll notice she's sporting a new diamond ring on that finger.
Alexis' caption further hinted at an engagement, which she later confirmed in another Instagram post. "On Cloud 9, celebrating 9 months of love and laughter, and looking forward to my forever with you," Alexis wrote alongside her initial post. "Every moment together has been a gift. I am so in love with you and the beautiful life we’re building together. And the answer is 100000000% yes."
She added hashtags that read "nine months strong" and "love of my life" before quoting a Bible verse: "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
Alexis concluded her Instagram caption with a hashtag that read "gift from my mom," an acknowledgement of her late mother.
John's proposal comes amid his and Alexis' anniversary trip at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara.
Alexis Bellino and John Janssen's relationship timeline
Following Alexis' time as a RHOC cast member, she split up from her husband, Jim Bellino, and embarked on a relationship with Andy "Drew" Bohn. The couple got engaged in December of 2020, but they split up in September 2023.
John, for his part, was first introduced to RHOC viewers when he began dating Shannon Storms Beador back in 2019. The California businessman appeared on RHOC over the years, but he and Shannon split in November 2022, after filming wrapped on Season 17.
Fast forward to December 2023. After some speculation surrounding Alexis and John's relationship status, Alexis confirmed that Johnny J was her man on Instagram on Christmas Day in 2023. "Words cannot. Actions do. I will no longer feel guilty. I will not apologize. Love will create [its] own story," she wrote on Instagram while showcasing the Van Cleef & Arpels ring he got her. "I love you Johnny J."
In the months since making their relationship official, Alexis has been very public about sharing her love for the California businessman online. John has also spoken about their bond, including when he defended their relationship on Instagram in February 2024. As he put it in a post that Alexis re-shared, "We love each other…but more importantly we laugh…A LOT."
The couple has also been open about how they're blending their families. Alexis is mom to twins, Miles and Mackenna, and son, James, while John has three adult children from a previous marriage.
"We've acclimated all of our families together, including dogs," Alexis told The Daily Dish in July. "We are moving in a direction of being in it for the long haul. So, it's exciting."
At the time, though, she and John weren't quite living together just yet. "I mean, we try to stay together when we can, but I have my three children who still live here full time," Alexis noted. "We do try to stay together as much as possible, and we're together every day. I mean, there's not a day that we don't either have lunch or get together or hang out."
The couple does plenty of traveling, too. In June, Alexis and John took a trip to Puerto Rico with their respective kids. Then, in July, she shared a peek at her and John's travels overseas in England.
That same month, Alexis teased that she had been ring shopping with John.
“Honestly, I think he's trying to throw me off. I know it's coming because we did go ring shopping together. So it's definitely around the corner," she shared during her interview with The Daily Dish. "That could be tomorrow. It could be six months from now. I honestly don't know, because he is throwing a lot of little things in my direction."
She added: "I think he's just trying to keep me confused. So I don't know ... I mean, America will know when it happens. We won’t be quiet about it.”
Viewers can get further insight into Alexis and John's relationship on RHOC Season 18. She first opened up about her feelings for him on the premiere, explaining, "We tried to fight the feelings, [but] after week two, John and I knew that was it ... unfortunately, your heart wants what it wants, and here we are."
The RHOC midseason trailer shed more light on Alexis and John's relationship, and also featured John making his first appearance this season.
