Andy Cohen Teared Up for *This* Reason During the Summer House Reunion
The WWHL host got emotional after Kyle Cooke and Carl Radke revealed where their friendship stood during Part 2 of the Season 7 reunion.
On Season 7 of Summer House, Kyle Cooke and Carl Radke faced a few challenges in their friendship. Not only did they clash over Carl’s future with Kyle’s alcohol company, Loverboy (which Carl decided to leave in November 2022), but they were also at odds when Kyle had a heated argument with Lindsay Hubbard on Episode 4.
Despite those issues, they were able to salvage their relationship and enjoy the rest of the summer. However, this didn’t stop the friends from holding on to their past feelings.
When Kyle and Carl gave an update on the “current status” of their friendship during Part 2 of the Summer House reunion (which you can preview in the clip above), things got so emotional that host Andy Cohen was in tears.
Kyle Cooke and Carl Radke Share Updates on Their Friendship
“Clearly, there’s a change in the friendship — let’s be honest,” Carl shared. He went on to explain the difficulties of working with friends and admitted to not “opening up” to Kyle about the struggles in his career. “[Kyle’s] given me a lot of opportunity in life and as a man and to grow up, and he’s someone that’s super important to me.”
When Andy asked Kyle if this was a “fair assessment” of his relationship with Carl today, he responded: “Yeah, I knew the work stuff was getting challenging… I was doing my best to give him insane leeway while he tried to figure out what he wanted to do. And last year, I practically felt taken advantage of.”
Another issue that Kyle said led to the demise of his work dynamics with Carl was his girlfriend (now fiancée) Lindsay’s influence over him. However, Lindsay denied involvement in Carl’s negative feelings toward his former job, leading to an apology on Kyle’s behalf.
More on Kyle Cooke and Carl Radke’s Loverboy Drama
The Loverboy workplace drama came to a head on Summer House Season 7 when Kyle ranted about his former co-worker’s sobriety issues during a group dinner that Carl didn’t attend. And when the topic came up at Part 2 of the reunion, Carl’s emotions ran high.
“I am incredibly ashamed and embarrassed about my past,” Carl explained. “And I really hope I try to repay you guys with hard work, but for my addiction to be brought up so publicly — it really hurt when you said that [be]cause I forget sometimes about my past.”
Kyle immediately expressed his sorrow for bringing up Carl’s past and apologized for his wrongdoing. “For years, I did my best to deal with the challenges of some of [Carl’s] addictions… I don’t think I realized to the extent that he was struggling, and I felt so bummed and frustrated and it was like me at my worst.”
As Kyle continued to talk about his hurtful comments, his wife, Amanda Batula, intervened to say, “Give him a hug.” While hugging it out, Kyle told Carl that he “never felt more ashamed and more sorry.”
Andy Cohen Reacts to Kyle and Carl’s Mended Friendship
At this moment, Andy and a few of the Hamptons crew started to become emotional while Kyle and Carl hashed out their differences. After Carl pulled himself together, he told Kyle how much he appreciated his apology and thanked Danielle Olivera for defending him at that time.
Carl’s kind words touched not only Danielle but also Andy, who began to wipe his tears away with his hand before Lindsay started passing out napkins.
“Oh, Andy needs one too. Here you go, Andy,” she said.
