We Have a Major Update on Ashley Darby and Michael Darby's Marriage

The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member also shares the status of their postnuptial agreement.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Following husband Michael Darby's headline-grabbing night out earlier this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley Darby sat down with her spouse to have a serious conversation about the future of their marriage. Ashley brought up the idea of a postnuptial agreement, "something that would be protecting [son] Dean and me in the event that this happens again," she told Michael at the time.

Ashley elaborated on what that postnuptial agreement would entail in an interview in Season 5, Episode 9. "Michael and I had a prenuptial agreement that expired after five years of marriage. Now, in the event of a divorce, I will receive 50 percent of our assets," she explained. "And now, I think it would be good for us to have a postnuptial agreement because a postnup would outline things I would be guaranteed to get — no arguing, no disputing — and essentially would speed up the process in the event of a divorce."

Michael agreed to look into the postnup. "I want to make sure you're happy and I look after you in the right way," he told Ashley. "I think that's important right now."

Ashley shared an update on that postnuptial agreement during her appearance with Gizelle Bryant on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on October 25 (clip above). "No, we haven't signed it. I've been a little lackadaisical about it, merely because Michael's been on his best behavior, let me tell you guys. I haven't had to sniff any drawers," Ashley said alluding to how she checks in on her husband, as revealed earlier this season of RHOP.

Flexing her new talk show muscles as one of the hosts of Bravo's Chat Room, Gizelle then asked Ashley a follow-up question about her relationship with Michael as the couple prepares to welcome their second child in February. "With baby two, baby No. 2 coming, do you think potentially [Michael] might feel isolated and lonely again?" she asked Ashley.

"We're really trying to not go down that road," Ashley said in response. "We're using tactics that we got from the therapist now. So we do these little worksheets and stuff on Sunday night, because we're really trying. We're really making an effort to be together."

Ashley opened up more about how her relationship with Michael has improved during the WWHL After Show (clip below). "Our relationship is definitely better. We have made a lot of progress, honestly, saying things that we never talked about before and really being open when we don't want to," she said. "It's not that easy for my husband, so he's trying."
