Jax Taylor Sounds Off on His Separation from Brittany Cartwright: "This Is Not Divorce"

The Valley cast member also revealed a surprising update on the couple's current living situation.

On February 29, Brittany did a solo episode of the podcast she hosts with her husband of just under five years, When Reality Hits, and she revealed that the two were "taking time apart" in their marriage and living in separate homes. 

Just a few hours later, Jax clarified some of the details surrounding his relationship from the Vanderpump Rules alum during a chat with Page Six.

When asked if there was "a chance of reconciliation," Jax told Page Six, "Of course, I mean this is not divorce, but just taking some time apart, just trying to re-asses our situation. And we have a child involved, and we want to just do what's best for our kid." 

As for their current status, Jax shared that they're "trying to figure it out."

"This is all fresh and new, it's not evil and nastiness, it's just two people that are hitting a 10-year mark in their [relationship], and it could go one way or the other," he concluded.

Are Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright living together?

Though Brittany had said that the two were living apart, Jax said that there had been a change in their arrangement. "We’re actually together in our home right now," he said. "She was in a house for a while, but, yeah, she’s back now."

What Brittany Cartwright Said About Her and Jax's Separation

Brittany kicked off the February 29 episode of When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany by sharing a "real and honest" update with her listeners.

"We’ve shared so much of our life with you guys, so I don’t want to seem like I’m lying," she continued. "So, I think it’s important for me to say this."

"Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health," Brittany continued. "I won’t get into too many details right now because this is still very hard to talk about and I’m taking things one day at a time."

She went on to say that she doesn't know what the future will bring, but that her "focus is on being the best mom to Cruz."

"I love you guys. Pray for us," she concluded. "And everything will be just fine."

When Did Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright get married?

After announcing their engagement in June of 2018, Jax and Brittany tied the knot just over a year later at the Kentucky Castle on June 29, 2019.

NSYNC singer Lance Bass officiated the nuptials, and the wedding was prominently featured on Season 8 of Vanderpump Rules.
