Ashley Darby may have told the world on Tuesday evening that she is officially pregnant, but before she made the big announcement, The Real Housewives of Potomac mom-to-be didn't let everyone in on the news. When speaking to PEOPLE, she noted that not all of the RHOP ladies knew about the pregnancy before the announcement, though she suspected Monique Samuels might have had a clue.
“I was at Monique’s son Chris’ 6th birthday party over the weekend, and I had this natural desire to hold baby Chase,” Ashley recalled. “I love babies anyway, but it was almost amplified where I held the baby basically the whole time I was there. And then when he went to sleep, I left.”
However, she did let new daddy and Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host Andy Cohen in on her secret at his baby shower last month. “Being at Andy’s baby shower a couple weeks ago, he and I were talking about it and to feel that mutual excitement was like a common bond we shared with each other. Sharing my experiences of becoming a mom, there was like this synergy we have with each other. It was really nice," she said. “It's definitely is the year of the baby. Must be something in the waters.”
Ashley is expecting her first child with husband Michael Darby this July. "I've always wondered what this would feel like — carrying a being inside of my body — but actually being pregnant is more incredible than I could have imagined,” Ashley said in a statement to The Daily Dish. “Through all of our past heartbreak, this is the most incredible gift we could ever receive."
Andy, of course, welcomed his first child, son, Benjamin Allen, on Monday. Celebrate that news, below.
