RHOP's Wendy Osefo Clarifies Her Comments to Ashley Darby About Baby Dean

Here's how The Real Housewives of Potomac newcomer feels about Ashley Darby today.

By Laura Rosenfeld

The first trip of Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Potomac kicked off with a bang when the newest member of the group, Wendy Osefo, questioned why Ashley Darby brought her 3-month-old son, Dean, on the girls' weekend while she left her baby girl Kamrynn, who is the same age as Dean, at home with her husband, Eddie.

The conversation quickly intensified in the kitchen of Monique Samuels' lake house in Newburg, Maryland shorty after their arrival (clip above). "I know how much I sacrificed and suffered to be able to be here. I pumped around the clock. I was pumping every two hours. I put milk in my freezer just so I could spend the weekend with you ladies and make sure I'm present," Wendy told the rest of the group. "So I know it can be done. So I don't have sympathy for her saying she's a new mother."

Monique said that she didn't have a problem with Ashley bringing Dean to her house. "She wasn't comfortable to leave the baby. She doesn't have a full-time nanny," Monique said. "So I offered for her to bring him here, and that's it."

Ashley explained why she felt so hurt by Wendy's comments during an interview in the episode. "I do not like anyone criticizing me or my son," she said. "Wendy's projecting all of her insecurities onto me, and access denied. I'm not having that."

Wendy later clarified her comments to Ashley during dinner that night with the ladies. "I am a new mom myself, so it touched a sensitive spot," Wendy explained, later acknowledging that her frustration and stress over the situation were behind her energy in that moment in the kitchen.

Ashley told Wendy why she felt like her comments were inappropriate. "You actually talked about me bringing Dean, and you talked about my husband [Michael Darby]. You brought my husband into the equation," she said. "It was not a conversation between you and me; you decided to pop off when she mentioned Michael."

Still, Wendy said that she didn't feel like she owed Ashley an apology, which caused some major drama to break out between these two once again.

We'll have to wait and see how this discussion concludes in the next episode of RHOP, but it looks like Wendy has done some reflecting on the matter in the months since it occurred. She opened up more about where she was coming from in this moment with Ashley in a tweet as this episode of RHOP aired on August 30. "My delivery was wrong. I was just missing my baby girl," Wendy shared. "I wish I would have been told that we could bring our babies on the trip because I would have definitely brought mine. Sending love to @_AshleyDarby."

Monique also reiterated on Twitter that she didn't mind having kids be a part of this girls' getaway. "I was open to all the babies!" she tweeted. "And I was fine with leaving mine since I needed a lil break."

Just preparing for her friends' arrival was no small feat for Monique while juggling everything with her three kids, Christopher, Milani, and Chase. "Yea it really was that much! I drove 2 hours each way everyday in between dropping my kids to school and picking them up to get the house ready," she tweeted. "I’m a great host."

Wendy also shared more of the struggle of the work-life balance with a newborn baby at home. "Being a working mom and breastfeeding is no joke," she tweeted.

However, Wendy also expressed gratitude for her husband for being there for her and daughter Kamrynn, as well as their sons Karter and and Kruz. "Parenting is hard. Thankful for a husband who encourages me to take 'mommy time' and enjoys taking care of our three kids," Wendy tweeted.

Wendy and Ashley can agree on the challenges moms of newborn children face, especially when it comes to breastfeeding. They both recently opened up about their breastfeeding journeys while showing their support for Black Breastfeeding Week last week.
