After sharing a few updates on his Charleston abode, the Southern Charm cast member provided another glimpse at the home's cozy interior. Fans received the peek on Thursday, March 28, as Austen shared a few thoughts on the NCAA basketball tournament — specifically the Alabama Crimson Tide vs. the North Carolina Tar Heels game.

“Alright, here we are, another Alabama game. The Sweet 16,” he said while standing in his living room. “I didn’t even think that we were gonna make it here, but we’re playing against UNC tonight. Also, I’m just noticing the self-tanner that’s on my face. Don’t pay attention to that.”

Austen returned to Instagram several hours later to share a quick update on the March Madness broadcast, which unexpectedly froze with only 7.6 seconds remaining. The University of Alabama alum pointed his camera toward the TV, which showed UA leading UNC, 88-85. While Austen was completely focused on the nail-biter game, it was hard not to swoon over his living room setup.

The Story showed Austen’s recessed fireplace and the floor-to-ceiling dark wood paneling. The mounted flat-screen TV was illuminated with LED backlights and flanked by two pieces of jellyfish art. Each painting was hung beneath brass cone lighting fixtures, which added a dramatic effect to the sleek yet masculine room.

Other highlights included a gray accent wall, leather seating, an upholstered square ottoman, and dark wooden floors covered by a light gray area rug.

After celebrating another year around the sun, Austen announced he had purchased his Charleston home in the summer of 2021.

“I couldn’t find a bow big enough for this [year’s] birthday present to myself,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “Also, big thanks to my good buddy/realtor [Christos Palles] for making the process so seamless.”

The Washington, D.C., native would spend the following years updating the pad with new furniture and decorative pieces.

“I’ve made so much progress with like, you know, a light fixture here, a chandelier here,” he told BravoTV.com in 2022. “[But] I ordered a couch in October, and we’re talking in July, and it’s not here yet. That is so infuriating. It feels like my living room is not complete yet.”

Austen also enlisted the help of his Southern Charm friend Rodrigo Reyes, an interior design expert who helped decorate Austen’s bedrooms

"Soo once again, I’m almost embarrassed to admit, but I’ve been in my house for almost two years, and my two guest rooms were finally completed by my incredibly talented friend [Rodrigo Reyes],” he wrote in an Instagram Story.

The post included before-and-after shots of Rodrigo’s work, which included the addition of framed art, wall mirrors, drapes, nightstands, and other bedroom essentials.

Austen spoke about his home during a 2023 sitdown with BravoTV.com, revealing he was investing much more in his house decor: “Now that I have three bedrooms, I spend more money on bedding than I do on hair and face products combined,” he said.
