So, It Looks Like There’s Been a New Development in Captain Glenn Shephard’s Love Life

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht captain revealed that he’s “very much in love” with his new girlfriend during a getaway to Mexico.

It appears Captain Glenn Shephard has found a new first mate. About six months after teasing to The Daily Dish that he had a special someone in his life, the Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast member just made his relationship Instagram official.

Of course, he had to get in a few jokes first, though. “Sat next to this lovely lady on the Emirates flight here to Mexico City yesterday. I was like: if you don’t talk to her you’re an idiot,” he jokingly captioned a series of November 16 Instagram photos of him and his girlfriend, Danelis, on an airplane, adding a smiling face with sunglasses emoji. “She was very nice but I did have to squabble with her a bit over the window seat.”

The duo was flying from Barcelona to Mexico City, where they walked the red carpet together in formal attire at the NBCUniversal Experience at Jardin Santa Fe, as seen in another photo Captain Glenn shared the following day. “Looking sharp capt,” Below Deck’s Eddie Lucas commented, while Below Deck Sailing Yacht  chef Marcos Spaziani added, “Legend,” along with a flame and red heart emojis.

The trip wasn’t all work and no play, though. On November 20, Captain Glenn posted photos and videos from excursions to Mexico City’s Teotihuacan pyramids and the Xochimilco boats. “You’ll never guess who I bumped into at the Pirámides de Teotihuacan,” he quipped in the caption. “No matter what I do I can’t seem to shake this chick.... I tried to give her the slip but she even followed me to Xochimilco.”

After eagle-eyed fans thought they’d spotted an engagement ring on Danelis’ finger, the BDSY captain was quick to shut down those rumors — but he didn’t shy away from revealing just how serious their relationship has become. “Neither of us are married nor engaged, but I can report we are very much in love, and for us, that’s what counts,” he clarified in a caption update, adding no fewer than 11 smiling face with hearts emojis. “PS for those that sent us congratulations, I can assure you they were not wasted, our relationship is worth celebrating.”

Meanwhile, The Real Housewives of Miami’s Alexia Nepola, who also attended the same red carpet event in Mexico City, and Below Deck alum Kate Chastain were among those who commented that they are a “gorgeous” and “beautiful” couple.

Captain Glenn’s recent public display of affection certainly contrasts with the coy statement he gave about his love life in May. “How can I say this? I’m not celibate,” he told The Daily Dish at the time, adding, “There’s someone in my life, but we don’t really want that out in the public eye, at this stage anyway. Maybe in the future.”

It seems the future is now.
