Where Is Below Deck's Amy Johnson Now?
Kate Chastain reveals what it's like not having her #BelowDeck bud onboard this season.
Amy Johnson may not be a part of the Valor crew, but the stewardess is still in her brother Kelley Johnson's heart and mind this season of Below Deck, as we saw during Tuesday night's episode.
Since Amy was a shoulder for Kelley to cry on (sometimes literally) when they appeared on Below Deck together in Season 2, it was challenging for him to be on charter without his big sister, according to chief stew Kate Chastain. "I think Kelley misses having her there. So I feel like I kind of have to be a little bit of the stand-in Amy, you know, as a good friend," Kate told The Daily Dish. "I have to step it up as the understudy sister, maybe."
Although Kate and Amy didn't get along initially, the two have since become good friends, so it also wasn't easy for the chief stew to be aboard the yacht without her for the first time since she's been on Below Deck. However, Kate said she is "so happy" that Amy is basically living the dream outside of the world of Below Deck right now. "I'm really sad that Amy's not here, but I also know that she has a really gorgeous, younger South African boyfriend, and they are working on a yacht together, so she has sailed off into the sunset and is very happy," Kate gushed.
But Amy hasn't forgotten about her crewmates, either. She showed her (virtual) love for Kelley, Kate, Captain Lee Rosbach, and Ben Robinson when this season of Below Deck kicked off earlier this month.
