Captain Lee Rosbach Wishes Cameras Didn't Capture This Below Deck Moment

"It was a tough situation to be in," he recalls of the classic Below Deck moment in his new book.

The Charter is Over

After soon-to-be six seasons of Below Deck, Captain Lee Rosbach has basically seen it all. Yes, pretty much all of the wildest moments that could ever happen at sea have happened on Below Deck, from hookups to peanut butter bikinis to even Captain Lee getting into costume, all captured on camera for our viewing pleasure.

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck on Bravo Mondays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

However, it's not always easy having your entire life documented on TV. "Sometimes, of course, the camera was right there even when you had moments when you wish they weren't," Captain Lee says in an exclusive excerpt from the audiobook to his new memoir, Running Against the Tide: True Tales from the Stud of the Sea, out now. You can check out the full clip, below.

The "most memorable" of those times, Captain Lee details in the clip, is when he was forced to end a charter early and ask the guests to leave the boat after the crew found what they suspected to be cocaine in one of the guest's rooms in the very first episode of Below Deck. You can relive the moment in the above clip. "It was a tough situation to be in. On the one hand, we want clients to be happy. On the other hand, I don't want my boat to get boarded by the Coast Guard, and I don't want to go to jail for 25 years," he says. "I made the decision to kick them off the boat."

That wasn't even the end of it. As the guests packed their things and got ready to leave, Captain Lee says that he assigned a crew member to make sure they didn't hide anything on board. "After they'd left, I then told the crew to take the boat apart. I didn't want any hidden stashes left on my boat. If I found any powder I couldn't account for, it was going over the side," Captain Lee describes in the audiobook excerpt. "It was a hell of a lot of work, we didn't find anything, and we lost some clients, but it was more than worth it to get that kind of garbage off my boat."

Luckily, Captain Lee has experienced more pleasant and "amusing" surprises during his Below Deck adventure. Press play on the clip to find out one he will never forget.

Captain Lee regales us with even more Below Deck behind-the-scenes scoop in his new book as well as other stories from the Stud of the Sea's amazing life. It's all in Running Against the Tide, in stores now.

We'll catch up more with Captain Lee and his crew when Below Deck returns for Season 6 on Tuesday, October 2 at 9/8c. See what's on the horizon for this season, below.
