Below Deck Mediterranean’s João Franco has been hard at work on an exciting new project — and he's now in the "final stages" of the seafaring ordeal. Any guesses as to what he's been working on lately?

Here's a hint: At the end of 2022, the Zimbabwe native dropped a few updates on what's next for him in his career. "Very grateful for everything and everyone; old friends and family, new friends and family… truly had one of the best years so far and I cannot wait for next year’s adventures!" he wrote.

He added, "Starting off [the year] with a skiing trip, a new captain job on an awesome brand new 43-meter super yacht, getting my master’s license, and a few other sneaky surprises."

Well, here's a surprise. In a March 10 Instagram update, João shared that he's not only the captain of a new yacht — he also helped build it.

"Being a part of each process of building a 140 foot (43 meter) super yacht before captaining it really adds extra value in so many ways!" he wrote. "Watching it all come together has been incredible!! Final stages now before we hit the water with 10,000kW of power and 40kts!!"

Confused about all those technical terms? Don't sweat it. All you need to know is that João is very excited about all these kWs and Kts, and his beaming smile in this photo proves it:

Though building a boat may be new to João, captaining is anything but.

The former bosun has already been a yacht captain for about four years. Over the course of the past several months, João has shared several life updates on social media showing how that sentiment applies to both his professional life and personal life.

Back on August 5, an Instagram follower asked João in a comment what he’s been up to lately. In his reply, João revealed that he’s “still doing the captain thing,” while also “studying and enjoying life at the moment.” (He explained in May that he’d finished taking master’s courses and was looking to get “experience under a very knowledgeable captain on a bigger boat” so he could take his exam.)

João has also opened up about his love life. He and his gorgeous GF, Domi, have made their romance Instagram official with several loved-up posts. How are things going for them now? This may clear it up: In a March 12 post, Domi shared a photo of herself and her captain BF, adding the caption, “HAPPY.”
