Once the Frenchman got to work alongside fellow deck team members Lara Du Preez, Haleigh Gorman, and Bosun Luka Brunton, it soon became clear that this yachting experience would be far different from what he's been used to.

In a preview for Episode 4, which will air on Monday, October 16, Max reveals why he's having such a difficult time adjusting to the Below Deck Mediterranean style of yachting.

Max Salvador's Yachting "First" on Below Deck Mediterranean

In the first-look clip for Episode 4 (which you can check out right now by watching the video at the top of this post), Max struggles to get on the same page as the rest of the deck team.

"I have four years [of] yachting experience, but this is the first time I'm doing an English operation," he says in an interview on the episode. "So, for me, that is hard.'"

As he went on to explain, his Mustique crewmates are very different from the deckhands he usually works with. "I'm working with French people, normally," he adds. "The vibe of America, South Africa is more 'Go, go, go, go! Let's go!' And you start to f-cking go to work, but you don't know what's happening."

Though Max is having a difficult time communicating with Lara, Haleigh, and Luka, the deck team is encouraging his progress on deck.

"You got it, honey!" Haleigh tells him.

Luka Brunton Considers Lara Du Preez for Lead Deckhand

Elsewhere in the preview, while Max attempts to settle into the crew, another member is already proving herself on deck: Lara.

"I love Lara's enthusiasm to just get involved," her boss, Luka, says in an interview confessional. "This is my first time in a management position, and I feel like I don't have to tell her what to do. She just knows. She just does it. Having her there is definitely making my job easier."

During a chat with Captain Sandy, Luka even thinks about whether he wants to name Lara as his lead deckhand.

Find out if Luka makes a decision about the lead deckhand position by watching the preview clip. Catch new episodes of Below Deck Mediterranean on Mondays at 9/8c, and stream episodes the next day on Peacock
