What Does Captain Lee Rosbach Think of Kelley Johnson's Return to Below Deck?
The #BelowDeck boss sounds off on working with the yachtie once again.
Kelley Johnson didn't exactly have the best relationship with Captain Lee Rosbach during his first go-round on Below Deck in Season 2. The then-second engineer got more than a few stern talks from the boss as he sometimes failed to show up to work on time and put in enough effort when he did.
So it may have come as a shock for some to see Captain Lee welcoming Kelley back to his Below Deck crew during Tuesday night's Season 4 premiere. But just because Valor's fearless leader runs a tight ship doesn't mean he doesn't also run a fair one. "I was more than willing to give Kelley a second shot at it because I'm a firm believer in second chances," Captain Lee told The Daily Dish ahead of the Season 4 premiere (clip above). "So he wanted a shot at redemption, I have no issue with that at all."
During the interview with The Daily Dish, Chef Ben Robinson, who said he didn't have much interaction this season with Kelley despite being his roommate, wondered if Captain Lee thought Kelley redeemed himself. "I think he acquitted himself quite well over the course of the season," Captain Lee said in response.
Now that Kelley is bosun this season of Below Deck, Captain Lee advised him at the end of the season premiere that he needs to step up to the plate big-time, which is something the boss is seeing so far. "I definitely think he showed a lot of improvement," Captain Lee said. "I think the maturation process with Kelley over the last couple of years had really sunk in and taken root, and I think he benefitted from it. I think he grew up a lot, which is what I thought he needed to do at the beginning."
But will romance get in the way for Kelley once again? Check out a sneak peek of next Tuesday night's episode of Below Deck.
