Below Deck's Tanner Sterback Woke up in the ICU After a Recent Accident
Doctors have called the deckhand "very lucky" after a car came "too close for comfort" while he was skateboarding.
Tanner Sterback is at home recovering after spending time in the ICU following a recent accident.
The Below Deck yachtie confirmed the news in a post on Instagram on Thursday, March 19 that featured a photo of Tanner with wounds on his face, arms, and hands. He also has a white bandage wrapped around his left wrist. "Sorry I haven’t gotten back to everyone who has reached out to me about my recent accident," Tanner said of the incident in the post. "To let everyone know, I was riding my electric skateboard home when a car had come too close for comfort!"
Tanner then said that he ended up in the ICU in the hospital after the accident. "Waking up in the ICU was intimidating. I suffered a fractured skull, and a few abrasions," he shared. "The sublime doctors at the Broward trauma center have called me very lucky and after a week in the hospital I am grateful to be home with my family surrounded by love and gratitude."
The deckhand also noted in the post that everyone should "always wear a helmet." "Long road of recovery ahead but I am so grateful and I plan on continuing to shine a positive outlook, share positivity and love," he said. "I Hope everyone is safe and doing well. Much love!"
Prior to returning to Florida, where he has been working for the past couple of years, Tanner had been spending time back home in Long Island, New York working as a dockmaster, he told The Daily Dish backstage at the Below Deck Season 7 reunion in January. He is also currently in a relationship with Corinna Pico.
