Jill Zarin Shares New Details from Bobby Zarin’s Funeral: “It Was Kind of Like a Big Blur”
The RHONY alum was buoyed by the love she received from her fellow Housewives after her husband's death.
Every Thursday, BravoTV.com digital producers Megan Segura and Rachael Roberts are bringing you exclusive interviews with Bravolebs like Vicki Gunvalson, NeNe Leakes, and Stassi Schroeder, plus expert commentary and behind-the-scenes secrets straight from Bravo execs. The Real Housewives of New York City alum Jill Zarin lost her husband Bobby Zarin after a long cancer battle earlier this year. She previously shared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that “she really doesn’t remember much” about his January funeral, as there was a lot going on. In a recent interview with The Daily Dish podcast, Jill revealed just how hectic the day actually was.
“It’s kind of like a big blur, to be honest. There were a thousand people there at 8 o’clock in the morning, from TMZ or whatever, and they were there an hour and a half early; it was freezing out, I felt so bad,” Jill shared. “I stayed inside for I don’t know how long, half hour, 45 minutes, meeting, greeting people. It was weird, almost like a wedding, a reception line."
Although fans will see Bethenny Frankel and Jill reunite at Bobby’s funeral in this week's episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, Jill says she had so much on her mind that day that she didn’t even realize Bethenny would be attending
“I didn’t know she was coming to the funeral,” Jill revealed. “I knew that other Housewives were coming. I knew that Luann [de Lesseps] obviously couldn’t make it; she was a little tied up. She came to my apartment a lot; she had seen Bobby a few days before, she came to the hospital. She was an amazing friend. Kelly Bensimon came a lot. Ramona [Singer] came to the hospital quite a few times. Dorinda [Medley] came with John; we were good friends with them as a couple and I knew Dorinda a long time. Sonja [Morgan] was there; I didn’t see her but I know she was there. I had Marla Maples [come]. Marysol [Patton] from Florida. Eric Trump came, he snuck in … I was honored they paid their respects to Bobby. It was a beautiful funeral; I’ll never forget it.”
Jill also added that the outpouring of love and support from fans has been incredible. “[I got] 55,000 likes ... and thousands of comments” on an Instagram photo of Bobby, she revealed.
The RHONY OG also shared what it was like to visit Morocco again with Ramona after losing Bobby; check out that story and more in the podcast episode above.
