Exclusive: Erika Jayne's "PAINKILLR" Director Responds to Bethenny Frankel's Comments
#RHOBH pal Mikey Minden has something to say about the #RHONY mogul's criticisms.
Team Erika Jayne is sticking together following Bethenny Frankel's critique of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills pop star's music video for "PAINKILLR." Erika's longtime creative partner Mikey Minden is speaking out about that moment in an exclusive interview with The Daily Dish. On Tuesday's episode, The Real Housewives of New York mogul said that Erika's music video "looks cheap." Well, Mikey, who directed and choreographed the clip, has his own take.
"Obviously, I don't agree with her opinion," he said. "The vibe of the video was intended to be edgy, dark, gritty, in-your-face, provocative, super-sexy, super-stylized, and very theatrical. With saying all of that, as a creative person, I don't think she really looked at it in the right way."
"Over the years, I've worked with so many huge celebrities that are super sexy and pushing the boundaries and super provocative," he continued. "I've seen it for so many years with certain type of girls being kind of — not intimidated, but, you know, can be put off by girls like Erika that are super confident and in control of their body and super sexy. So I wasn't really that surprised, but you never know. Girls are funny. Girl-on-girl crime is funny." (BTW, Mikey has also worked with Usher, the Pussycat Dolls, and Pink, to name a few.)
In the episode, Erika stood up for her art without getting too heated, which, according to Mikey, speaks to her character. "Erika is one of the most pulled-together, professional, organized, smart, and sober people I know," he said of his friend and collaborator of six years. "And she's so clearheaded and in-the-moment and I think she's like the ultimate picture of a lady."
Erika and Bethenny will meet again on next week's episode of RHOBH. Check out a preview below, and catch it Tuesday, January 19 at 9/8c.
