Bethenny Frankel Explains Her Meltdown in Miami

Bethenny Frankel shocked everyone when she called Luann de Lesseps out for her seemingly self-centered behavior during the girls' trip to Miami this season of The Real Housewives of New York City. So, what was it that really caused Bethenny to have such a blow-up?

Bethenny addressed her Miami meltdown during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Thursday night, which you can check out, above. "It was an explosion and a reaction to many things, obviously. No one acts like that in a restaurant, no matter what's happened. There was a boiling point," she explained. "But there was something that I was observing in her that just really triggered me. I mean, you've seen it before with me with her. There's something that happens where I'm like, 'Why are you saying you invented the Skinnygirl Margarita,' you know? And I just, I had had it."

She said that all of the help she and her late fiancé Dennis Shields provided Luann when she returned to rehab for the second time last summer also factored in to her outburst. "So I just felt like, what the hell are you doing? Who are you? Like, how are you so not self-aware? And even right after that moment, she was like, 'Well, I've been going through a lot.' I don't want to be like, 'I'm going through a lot,' but I've been through a little bit this year," Bethenny said. "So that's what happened. It popped off. It seems like people understand it. I felt terrible about it."

Bethenny said that she was glad to see that her fellow New York Housewives and RHONY fans alike understood where she was coming from in this moment with Luann. "So when we got back to the house, everyone was saying — and this is a relentless group — everyone said, 'You do not have to be sorry. You did not do anything wrong.' And I'm like, 'But I did.' I felt really just unhinged, but everyone got it," she shared. "And thank you for all getting it. I don't want to act like that. I appreciate it."

Dorinda Medley shared that she agreed with what Bethenny said to Luann when she appeared on WWHL on June 12. "Well, it was overwhelming," Dorinda recalled of that night in Miami. "But at the same time as I told everyone, she said what we were all feeling the whole time."

Thankfully, Bethenny and Luann have been able to move on from this explosive moment. Luann recently told ET that things have "gotten much better" between her and Bethenny since their trip to Miami. "It's something that happened, you know, over six months ago so it's always hard to see that again because we've gotten to a different place," Luann explained. "It was tough. I felt really bad because I know there were a lot of things going on in there and it wasn't just about me. I think I handled it pretty well considering."

Luann added, "It was a tough moment and I think, as we go back a long time, I think that friends do get angry at each other and they do yell at each other... If you don't care, you don't bother with people, right? So I thought it was a true show of her love for me."

Luann opens up more about where she stands with Bethenny today in The Real Housewives of New York City Season 11 After Show, which you can watch, below.
