Katie Maloney compared her ex Schwartz's outfit to a "couch" at BravoCon 2023, but was it just harmless shade or did it speak to some unresolved tension between the exes?
It’s been more than a year since Vanderpump Rules’ Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz got divorced in October of 2022.
Just how are the former couple today? It might depend on who you ask.
The pair addressed their current dating status — and where they stand with each other — at the "SUR’ving Up the Latest With Vanderpump Rules: Presented by Lay's" panel at BravoCon 2023 on November 3.
Who is Katie Maloney dating?
While Katie admitted to enjoying some eye candy backstage after the men of Magic Mike Live finished a steamy, shirtless performance with the men of The Real Housewives of New Jersey that same day, she was quick to classify herself as single.
And it doesn’t look like she’s planning for a love connection with anyone from the Bravo universe anytime soon. “I want to go outside of the friend group, actually, even the Bravo friend group family,” she shared.
“No more Toms?” moderator Karamo asked.
“No more Toms,” Katie confirmed.
At that exact moment, her ex chimed in from across the room. “Hi Katie,” he said. “You look fabulous.”
“You look like a couch,” she replied.
Katie may not have been a fan of the bold floral print jacket Tom wore over a black shirt and pants, but it seems like the burn may have just been in good fun. “So are you two not in a good place right now?” Karamo asked.
“Yes, that’s a good place,” Lisa Vanderpump joked.
Katie Maloney Explains “Couch” Comment
Katie later explained in the “STEW vs SUR” panel, that it was actually Tom that first compared himself to a piece of furniture.
"Listen, I saw him this morning and he said 'My jacket looks like a couch.' So today, when he said 'you look nice,' I said he looks like a couch," she explained. "He walked right into that."
Katie went on to give an update on where stands today with her former husband.
"We're fine. We're fine," she said. "We share the dogs, so we talk about that. But I don't know, he really... I don't know."

Tom Schwartz Says He’s Not "Spiraling" And Enjoying Single Life
Katie wasn’t the only one who seems to be enjoying the single life. Tom also gave an update during the group panel on his dating life.
“I am single and I’m just happy to not be spiraling anymore,” he said. “I feel like there’s like some turbulence in my life, but I feel like I’m recalibrated. I feel good.”
He added that while he “maybe sometimes willing to mingle” he was single “for the most part.”
“I’m chilling,” Tom, who’s also on Season 3 of Winter House, said.
