Candiace Dillard Bassett knows first-hand the challenges of balancing a successful singing career and her relationship with her husband, Chris Bassett.

In the first episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac’s new season, the former Miss United States had just returned from a whirlwind tour for her album Deep Space. She wasted no time making clear that she had moved past any unsubstantiated gossip about Chris’s alleged inappropriate behavior in Season 7.

Where Candiace and Chris Stand Today

In fact, all the drama between Candiace and Chris is in the rearview mirror. The couple reconnected over a romantic picnic lunch in the park — complete with fresh fruit and bubbly — lovingly organized by Chris, a professional chef.

“Cheers to a day, just us hanging out,” said Chris as they relaxed on a picnic blanket under a large shady tree.

Candiace released her debut LP in 2021, with a deluxe edition dropping in late 2022. A thrilling live tour followed, with shows in Philly, D.C., Nashville, Chicago, and Atlanta, the latter of which she was joined by The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Drew Sidora on stage at the historic Buckhead Theatre. Pursuing a singing career while keeping the spark alive with Chris is a tricky juggling act, and she acknowledged during lunch that it’s been the most challenging year for their marriage.

All the more reason for this special alfresco date, where the couple could finally decompress and connect.

“It’s good that you’re home. I feel like I haven’t spent any time with you in the past six months,” said Chris.

But with Candiace, the wheels are always turning, and the conversation quickly transitioned to her career. Her next tour promises to be even bigger and better, with an extravagant budget for backup dancers and a few other essentials: “So much of touring is on the artist, and I’m sure I spent six figures to go on tour last year … I have to go bigger this time. Costumes, hair, makeup, wigs, highlights, chicken cutlets, boob tape, titties! It’s all gonna be there,” she jokingly said.

Not one to take a break from the spotlight, Candiace recently opened for R&B Grammy-nominee Tamar Braxton at her sold-out show on October 30 in Silver Springs, Maryland. While Candiace mostly shares career highlights on her Instagram, she also reminisces about special anniversaries with Chris:

“I never posted our New Orleans five year wedding Anny adventure photos!!” she wrote recently. “This is one of many posts lol. We had a TIME. Ate everything. Got drunk! Danced! Partied! Got some culture! It was amazing.”
