Caroline Stanbury Reveals What the Next Step Could Be to Expand Her Family

The RHODubai cast member shared a "really good update" during BravoCon 2023.

After a months-long pauseCaroline Stanbury could soon resume her baby journey.

How to Watch

The Real Housewives of Dubai mom addressed the topic during the Diving into Dubai panel at BravoCon 2023 when she was asked about her and her husband Sergio Carrallo’s sex life.

“We had tiki-tiki this morning,” Caroline told the moderator, Francesca Amiker.

“We love hearing about tiki-tiki,” Francesca said before asking if Sergio’s sex drive had decreased during their first year of marriage.

“No, he’s 29 years old,” Caroline joked. “It’s a disaster for me. He’ll kill me there.”

The Ladies of London alum was then asked about the possibility of welcoming her first child with her husband, whom she married in December of 2021. The issue was explored in the inaugural season of RHODubai as the couple approached their wedding date. Caroline — who shares three children with her ex-husband, Cem Habib — said she was interested in going the surrogate route, as she was “scared” of giving birth at this stage of her life. Sergio wasn’t thrilled with the idea and pushed for a traditional pregnancy.

“I don’t want someone else to carry it,” he said in the June 22, 2022, episode. “I don’t want to have a baby that doesn’t look like us.”

Caroline told Sergio that the baby would, in fact, look like them; however, he wasn’t convinced.

“This is definitely where I see the age gap because he is clueless,” she said in an episode interview. “He just thinks two people have sex and a baby comes out. I’m very scared to have to do this again. But if I can’t have the baby, Sergio won’t stay. Fact.”

But Sergio’s objections weren’t the only problem. In the spring of 2019, the United Arab Emirates enacted laws that prohibited surrogacy and other forms of assisted reproduction, even for married couples. If Caroline and Sergio wanted to have someone else carry their child, they would have to do so in another country, which made the matter much more complex.

During BravoCon 2022, Caroline revealed she had tried multiple IVF rounds, “but none of them worked.” Several months later, the ‘Wife told Page Six she had put her pregnancy plans on pause as she and her husband were waiting for their home to be built.

Fast-forward to BravoCon 2023, when Caroline was asked to give an update on her baby journey.

“Actually, there’s a really good update,” she said. “I just found out this week that surrogacy is legal now in the Middle East.”

RHODubai newbie Taleen Marie pointed out that this was a major step for the UAE.

“This is huge because a few years ago, you couldn’t even live with somebody without being married to them in Dubai,” she said. “I think this shows how progressive Dubai is and how we’re moving forward.”
