All These Bravolebs Walked into an Awards Show and Took Home Some Trophies, NBD
It was a big weekend for Top Chef, Project Runway, and more (!) as Bravolebs walked away with some shiny hardware.
We’re sending a big mazel out to Bravolebs from across the network after they were awarded some stellar hardware over the weekend. The fourth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards took place on June 12 in Los Angeles, and it was a big night for Bravo as the network was awarded the most wins of the night across five categories.
Bravo’s Project Runway won for Best Lifestyle: Fashion/Beauty Show, and judge Elaine Welteroth was handed her award by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Garcelle Beauvais. “Sooo [Project Runway] JUST WON A CRITIC’S CHOICE AWARD!!! Let’s gooooo!” Elaine tweeted. She also Instagrammed a video of herself getting prepped for the big event, writing, “Which dress for mama’s first red carpet since baby? The theme is 'Hollywood Black-Tie.’ Please cast your votes (especially if you are a 13-year-old girl lol).”
Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles was also feeling the glow of a win, taking home a prize for Best Lifestyle: Home/Garden Show, and MDLLA agent Tracy Tutor was on hand to accept the award.
Bravo’s Top Chef won three awards for Best Competition Series, Best Culinary Show, and Best Show Host for Padma Lakshmi (who also won for her work on Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi).
“Gosh, I’m over the moon,” Padma later shared on Instagram and Twitter. “To my Top Chef family, thank you so much. I’m so proud of everyone who works so hard to keep making Top Chef better and better each year. It has been the privilege of my life to do this show for the past 16 years and I wouldn’t be here today without it. It’s given me such [a] great platform to do so many other incredible things and I’m so grateful. What a weekend this has been. Somebody pinch me!”
But that wasn’t the only Bravo star power on hand. The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker were also in attendance at the Critics Choice Real TV Awards on Sunday, with Kandi presenting an award.
And Bravolebs were feeling the love in other ways too. Padma also took home another coveted prize, along with Top Chef alum Gregory Gourdet. They shared that they each won a James Beard Award over the weekend.
Padma reflected on her win alongside glorious photos of her with her medal. “I’m absolutely elated! I can’t believe I’m here. I have always kind of felt like an outsider in my life. Either I wasn’t Indian enough or American enough, but I always had a deep love for food. It was this passion that led me throughout life, but I came to this career later than most,” she wrote, in part. “It has been a pleasure to hear all of the stories that our participants trust me with. Thank you so much to the [James Beard Foundation] for this honor and everyone who brought Taste the Nation to life.”
She thanked not only the James Beard Foundation but also a few other important people in her life, including her daughter “and so many more. Creating Taste the Nation has been so moving and I’m so privileged to be in this position. I wouldn’t have that privilege if it weren’t for my extended family on Top Chef, too. I wish my grandmother could have been here to see this award. She taught me how to cook and taught me about life through food and she would have been so proud.”
As for Gregory, well, he won for his recent cookbook, Everyone’s Table: Global Recipes for Modern Health. “Where to start? Start with a dream. Start with a goal. Surround yourself with good people and never give up,” he wrote, in part. “Last night was filled with tears of gratitude and joy. An overwhelming release of emotion, thinking about everything it took to get to this day, and the pressure I put on myself to do my best. My cookbook is a result of everything that has ever inspired or influenced my cooking — from my mother and aunts and grandmother, to my mentors, to all the amazing cooks I have been lucky enough to work alongside as we created dish after dish over the years... It was very special to be presented this award by [Padma Lakshmi], a close friend who has been there for so many of my big life moments… A special thank you to my amazing writer JJ Goode. This book would have never been as detailed and well written without you my friend.”
Top Chef, Project Runway, Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta are streaming on Peacock and available on the Bravo app.
