Summer House's Danielle Olivera Addresses Her Role in Season 4
Danielle Olivera answers "the #1 question I've been asked the past couple of months."
Danielle Olivera is reflecting on this past season of Summer House as Season 4 officially comes to a close following the airing of its Secrets Revealed episode earlier this week.
Danielle opened up about her role in Season 4 in a lengthy note on Instagram on May 14. "Hi guys! I think it's about time I share more about my role on Summer House this past season, since it has been the #1 question I've been asked the past couple of months," the message began. "Better late than never!"
Danielle, who joined the Summer House cast in Season 2, noted that she "was not a full time cast member this time around." "Here's the truth: I was given the opportunity to have a reduced role last summer aka: be part time," she shared. "And I'm so appreciative of that."
She explained that though she had hoped to spend the whole summer with her friends at that start of the season, her career in financial technology comes first. "Going into last summer I wanted nothing more than to be back in the house every weekend. But I knew it would be incredibly difficult for me to balance my career and filming," Danielle said. "I had a lot of work travel and a work schedule that was inflexible at the time. If you know me, you know my career is what's most important to me and something I won't jeopardize."
Though Danielle said she has enjoyed her time on Summer House, it is "a serious time commitment." "If I can't be there to give 100+%, that isn't fair to the amazing cast and crew that give it their all to make this show great," she wrote.
So, the producers of Summer House gave Danielle the opportunity to come back for Season 4 while also allowing her the freedom to fulfill her obligations to her job. "What I love about my producers is that they know me and at the end of the day they want what's best for me, as well as, what's best for the show," Danielle said. "They said something to the effect of 'let's have you out for a few weekends to start and see where that goes. You know we love having you on, but we know you have priorities that make you unable to commit full time.' In my head this was a dream come true."
When Danielle told her besties Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke, they were very supportive of the arrangement, as were Kyle Cooke, Amanda Batula, and Luke Gulbranson in the comments to this post on Instagram. "The first people I told this to were of course Lindsay and Carl. And their response was something like 'yayyyyy we told them we needed you there. We can't survive without you,'" Danielle recalled. "Okay maybe I embellished that one a bit. But I'd be lying to myself if I said they didn't have a part in this."
Danielle said that Season 4 of Summer House "was a wild card" to her. "I went in not knowing what my role would be, not knowing how much time I'd be spending with my friends, or if I'd be coming back another weekend," she shared. "But what ended up happening is exactly what this show is based on...we're a group of friends that share our lives with each other and for better or for worse I'm part of it, which is why I ended up being at the house way more than any of us had anticipated or originally planned for."
I know production could've decided to part ways with me. I know I'm not a 'fan favorite,'" Danielle continued. "But I am real. And I do have relationships with people on the show that go deeper than what you see on TV. They're my friends and I'll be there for them and support them regardless of my role on Summer House."
As for what's next for Danielle, she teased, "Safe to say I won't be traveling for work this summer so who knows what the future holds."
