Dina Manzo and Husband Dave Cantin Celebrate 3rd Wedding Anniversary Amid Assault Case Against Her Ex
The RHONJ alum's ex-husband faces federal charges for allegedly planning an assault of her current husband.
Dina Manzo and her husband, Dave Cantin, have been through a lot in their relationship, but the couple is stronger than ever these days.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum and her hubby recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary on June 28. Dina marked the occasion on Instagram with a gorgeous photo of herself with Dave, his arms lovingly wrapped around his wife. "He puts his arms around me and I am home... 6•28," Dina wrote in the caption to the post. "Happy Anniversary my love, forever is a looong time but I look forward to every minute of it with you."
Dave responded in the comments, "Forever is not long enough with you, baby!"
Dina's longtime friend and former RHONJ castmate Teresa Giudice also sent her best wishes to the couple in the comments to the post. "Love you guys," she gushed. "You are so beautiful together."
Of course, Dave shared his own tribute to his wife on Instagram, along with a collection of photos of the couple through the years. "Happy Anniversary to the most amazing, beautiful, and incredible woman in the entire world," Dave wrote in the post. "@Dina I will spend an eternity loving you, caring for you, respecting you, showing you every day that I hold you as high as the stars. I love you, baby!"
Dina also reacted to Dave's post in the comments on Instagram and playfully poked a bit of fun at her hubby in her sweet message. "Awww I cherish and adore you....you've made all my dreams come true my love," Dina wrote. "Well, still waiting on those fuzzy cows and some chickens but other than that you are perfect."
Dina and Dave celebrated their third wedding anniversary just two days before the arrest of the RHONJ alum's ex-husband, Thomas Manzo, on charges of planning and carrying out an assault on her current husband, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday, June 30.
Thomas Manzo is alleged to have hired John Perna, a soldier in the Lucchese Crime Family, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, to assault Dina's then-boyfriend, Dave, in exchange for a deeply discounted wedding and reception for Perna at The Brownstone, of which Thomas Manzo is one of the owners, along with Al Manzo, the husband of Dina's sister, Caroline Manzo. Perna and an accomplice allegedly attacked Dave in the parking lot of a strip mall in Passaic County, New Jersey in July 2015, according to the indictment.
Thomas Manzo and Perna were each charged with committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity and conspiracy to commit a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity. Thomas Manzo was also charged with falsifying and concealing records related to the federal investigation of the violent crime, and Perna was indicted with conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud related to the submission of a false car insurance claim.
Thomas Manzo and Perna were arraigned in federal court on Tuesday, June 30 and pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to Page Six.
Dina and Dave were also involved in another harrowing experience unrelated to the alleged 2015 assault when they were robbed and beaten during a home invasion at their Holmdel, New Jersey home in May 2017. James Mainello was arrested in May 2019 and is alleged to have been one of the two masked intruders involved in the incident.
Mainello was indicted by a Monmouth County Grand Jury in July 2019 and charged with first degree robbery; second degree burglary; second degree aggravated assault; third degree aggravated Assault; third degree theft; third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; and third degree criminal restraint. “My client maintains his innocence and looks forward to his day in court,” Mainello’s lawyer, Marco A. Laracca, told Page Six at the time. “He is not guilty and will be seen as such when facts come to light.”
Dina made the surprise announcement that she and Dave, who began dating around 2015, had been engaged for about a year during an August 2018 appearance on Radio Andy's Jeff Lewis Live. Though there was speculation that the two were actually married during that interview and later when Dina changed her last name to Dave's surname, Cantin, on social media, the RHONJ alum didn't confirm her nuptials had taken place on June 28, 2017 until nearly two years later.
