Dorinda Medley Admits She "Took It Too Far" with Luann de Lesseps in the Berkshires

The Real Housewives of New York City cast member explains why Luann de Lesseps is "like a sister" to her.

It wouldn't be a season of The Real Housewives of New York City without an unforgettable trip to Dorinda Medley's house in the Berkshires, and Season 12 is no exception.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and stream next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

Things quickly got heated at Dorinda's Blue Stone Manor when the subject of Sonja Morgan's compensation for appearing in Luann de Lesseps' cabaret show came up. When Dorinda came to Sonja's defense, the conflict then turned to Dorinda and Luann.

Luann appeared hurt by Dorinda's comments and was emotional as she packed up her things and got ready to exit the house, but not before one last argument in Blue Stone Manor's foyer. Luann ended up leaving to go to a pub with Leah McSweeney before spending the night at a hotel.

Dorinda reflected on the moment during her July 16 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home. "I think that it was just all very emotional," she said in the above clip. "And we're horrible day drinkers."

Dorinda's fellow WWHL: @ Home guest and Real Housewives superfan Michael Rapaport asked if she thinks she "took it too far with" Luann that night. "Yes, because I didn't remember it the next day," Dorinda said. "I do remember thinking she was really attacking Sonja, and I feel like Sonja really didn't deserve that this season. Sonja, too, was going through a very hard time. The thing about Sonja is that she does really try to help Lu in all ways, like she's her ride or die."

But what a difference a day makes. Dorinda called Luann the morning after their drama, and they both apologized for their behavior the night before. "I love you, I want to stay in a good place," Dorinda told Luann. "I don't know, I was feeling defensive of Sonja, and I swear to god, I don't use liquor as an excuse, but can I for one time?"

Luann agreed with Dorinda and said that she felt "really bad" and that she "didn't handle what happened the right way." "I'm not gonna let one night of a drunken rampage ruin our relationship," Luann explained during an interview in the episode. "So I'm gonna let it go, but I hope that Dorinda realizes that her behavior is very hurtful to her friends, and I hope that she wakes up and smells the roses."

Dorinda and Luann later shared a big hug when they reunited during the ladies' shopping trip. Dorinda also shared on WWHL: @ Home why she thinks she and Luann were able to move past their drama so easily this time around. "I felt terrible, because Lu and I have come a long way," she explained. "I really think of Lu as more like a sister relationship. She kind of grew up like me. We can fight and get through it."
