Dorinda Medley has always made it clear she has no plans to marry her longtime boyfriend John Mahdessian — or even moving in with him — partly because of her age.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and stream next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

"Past a certain age, people should not be allowed to be married. It's for the young. They have tolerance, they have dreams, they want babies," Dorinda said earlier this season of The Real Housewives of New York City (clip above). "You get to my age, and it's the opposite. I don't even want a plant in my house."

John doesn't exactly agree with Dorinda on that front. The RHONY radio host revealed during a recent interview with Page Six that John was "a little hurt" by her comments about marriage on the show. “But I said, ‘John, what are you hurt about?'” Dorinda told Page Six. “Statistically, we’ve been together longer than most couples. We’re going on seven years now.”

But Dorinda noted that John will become a part of her professional life. She told Page Six that he will definitely appear on her new SiriusXM radio show Make It Nice. “Of course we’re going to have the sultan of stains and the maverick of fabric on,” she said of her boyfriend, who runs the luxury dry cleaning empire Madame Paulette. “He’s very excited. He thinks he’s going to take over the whole show. He’s like, ‘Wait ’til I get on the show and talk about my stains.’”

Dorinda shared a similar sentiment when she discussed her future with John during an interview with The Daily Dish in March. "Listen, I'm 54, I don't think I'm gonna have any more kids, I've been married twice, I'm in a different mindset now. I feel very independent," she explained. "I can honestly say this: I don't ever wake up and go, 'I'm lonely. I need someone.' I'm like, 'Oh my god, I'm alone today, that's fantastic!'"

Dorinda's thoughts on marriage came as she moved into a new apartment this season of RHONY, and John probably shouldn't expect to get a key anytime soon.

"I know you just love this question, everybody! I cannot get away with an interview without someone asking me about my unconventional relationship with John Mahdessian. Talk to me in six months. I am so happy not to have anything alive in the apartment besides myself. I don't even have a plant, OK? I look after myself, it's great," Dorinda told The Daily Dish when asked if she could ever see a future where she moves in with her boyfriend. "I'm very happy right now to be there on my own. But I never say never. You never say never. John and I are very happy with our situation. It works for us. I know, world, you don't understand that, but we are going on seven years, so something's working."

She added, "When we see each other, we're happy, and when we don't see each other, we're OK."
