Dorinda Medley Explains the Hilarious Backstory to Her "Not Well, Bitch" Comment (UPDATED)
The RHONY pal breaks down her most unforgettable one-liners from Season 9.
UPDATE (AUGUST 25, 1:57 p.m.): Following the news that Dorinda Medley is leaving The Real Housewives of New York City after six seasons, we’re looking back at some of her greatest moments.
The original story continues below.
Before Season 9 of The Real Housewives of New York City even debuted, Dorinda Medley had everyone buzzing thanks to her feisty comments featured in the super tease. At the time, we didn't know what she was all riled up about, but now we do — and much of her shade stems from her beef with Sonja Morgan. So when Dorinda recently stopped by The Daily Dish we had her break it all down for us.
To start, she revealed the origin of her "She's got a hard on for me and now I've got a hard on back" comment she made when chatting with Luann D'Agostino and Ramona Singer in the Hamptons about comments that Sonja made about her in the press. "I was just catching up with Ramona from the summer and I showed her every single thing that [Sonja] had done all summer long," she explained. "And I was saying the whole summer she's had a hard on for me and I did nothing about it, but here's the news I got a hard on back now."
Cut to the dinner party hosted by Ramona where Dorinda confronted Sonja and had this diss to share with her over dinner: "Put an EZ Pass on that vagina with your Holland Tunnel." Wowza! Dorinda explained, "Because I was talking to her and I was like, 'You know, stop. Mind your own business. You need a turnstyle and a ticket for your front door and an EZ pass on your vagina. Start making some money.' I don't know 'cause I was just so angry. It's like, 'You're not perfect.' I'm sad to say this, but I wanted to say something hurtful the way she said something hurtful about me."
Which brings us to that same dinner party — post fight — when Dorinda told Candace Bushnell (yes, the woman who wrote Sex and the City!) that very feisty one-liner, "Not well, bitch." Well, now we know why that moment went down. "You want to hear what's so funny? I totally forgot who I said that to. So up until the episode they're like, 'Who did you say that to?' I'm like, 'I think Ramona,'" she said. "So when I saw that I was so surprised as well. She's like, 'Are you OK?' 'cause she had never really experienced the housewifery at its best and you got to remember it wasn't just a dinner with just us. It was a lot of people and I had promised Ramona I wouldn't say anything until dessert ... and then Sonja walks in and she's like, 'You look pretty,' and I'm like, 'That's it.' It was just so built up and I think it was Candace's first dinner with the whole crew. Poor Candace. But Candace is a character. I think she can handle it, don't you?"
This is a moment that has been a long time coming for fans, who have been hyped about it since the super teaser came out back in March. "Funny thing about that. That came out, I think the teaser came out on like a Monday. Do you know by Tuesday someone already sent me a mug?" she said. "I was like I've got to trademark that s***. They call it the Dorindaisms."
