Where Emily Simpson Stands With Her Mom After RHOC Season 17
Get the latest on Emily Simpson's relationship with her mother following the RHOC Season 17 reunion.
The Real Housewives of Orange County's Emily Simpson has long been open up about the difficult relationship she has with her mother, and the latest update came during Part 2 of Season 17 reunion on Oct. 12.
The topic arose as reunion host Andy Cohen, Emily, and her castmates — Shannon Storms Beador, Heather Dubrow, Gina Kirschenheiter, Tamra Judge, and Jennifer Pedranti — were discussing the "loser" drama.
To see how the two things are connected, as well as what Emily had to say about both her relationship with her mother and her childhood as a whole, keep reading.
Why the "Loser" Drama Triggered Emily
The drama, as Emily explained on the RHOC Season 17 finale, brought her back to the difficult times she faced as a child. "I have an amazing life, but there's just something that is so deep inside of me," she said in a confessional interview. "It's just such hurt."
While discussing the name-calling drama with Heather, Emily also noted, "My sister and I, that's what we did to get through a lot of what we had to deal with growing up."
As such, back at the reunion, Andy said, "It seems like a lot of your anger is deep-rooted from your childhood."
Emily agreed, and when Andy followed up by asking, 'Why do you think that still comes up?" she replied, "Because I think it was really rough."
That's not all she had to say, though.
Emily Simpson's Mom and Their Relationship
Continuing, Emily added, "I mean, my relationship with my mom is so hard. Like, I don't think I have a relationship with her. I think I talked to her the other day on the phone; That was the first time I had talked to her since she had came out [to visit] in December."
"It's just all over the place," she concluded of her relationship with her mother. "It's not consistent."
Emily Simpson's Childhood
Emily spoke in-depth about her childhood in 2018, telling The Daily Dish, "My mother and father divorced when I was 6, and my sister was 3. My dad left my mom for another woman. My mother never recovered from it."
