Ewan McGregor Is the Proudest, Wokest Bae on Earth

The T2 Trainspotting actor is socially conscious and making us swoon.

Take note, world: Ewan McGregor may be one of the wokest baes in Hollywood. And even if he has no clue what that actually means (we'd be down to offer him some free lessons), he's totally on board with having the title thrust upon him following some rather awakened comments he recently made defending the fact that there's a gay character, LeFou, in the live-action Beauty and the Beast remake. (“It’s 2017, for f***’s sake!,” Lumière himself shared.).

“I’m a woke bae!” he told Vanity Fair at a screening for T2 Trainspotting. “I’m f***ing proud to be a woke bae! I’m very proud about that. I am that.”

Prior to the red carpet event, Ewan poked fun at the fact that no one (and we mean literally no one) showed up to a press junket for the Trainspotting sequel to hear all of his enlightened thoughts about all kinds of topics. The press had a good reason — a snowstorm — but still, it was like a ghost town.

He later commented on the incident when he appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “Nobody really showed, no. We did all the interviews by phone, yeah. We got there, but none of the journalists did," he joked.
