Golnesa "GG" Gharachedaghi's Baby Name Reveals a Big Detail About Her "Donor Daddy"
The Shahs of Sunset mom-to-be also took inspiration from a Hollywood star in naming her first child.
Golnesa "GG" Gharachedaghi announced that she is having a boy named Elijah during her baby shower on Sunday, March 1, and she opened up to PEOPLE a little bit more about the inspiration behind her first child's name.
GG has actually known for a long time that she wanted to name her son Elijah. “Honestly, since I was little, I have been in love with Elijah Wood,” she said. “I remember first seeing him in [1992’s] Radio Flyer. He was just, the guy for me. My best friend and I even had a bet where I said if I had a boy, I’d name him Elijah. So when I found out I was pregnant with a boy, I was like, ‘Well, that’s settled!’"
The name also pays tribute to GG's sperm donor, who is Jewish, the Shahs of Sunset mom-to-be told PEOPLE. “It’s a Hebrew name, so it kind of honors my ‘Donor Daddy,’ as I call him,” GG joked. “It was just perfect; it all worked out perfectly.”
GG used a sperm donor and successfully completed a round of IVF in August to conceive her first child. She announced that she was expecting in October.
GG previously explained to PEOPLE how she went about finding a sperm donor. “I heard about a really good donor concierge company, who scavenges through the data from all the sperm banks in the nation and some neighboring countries to find you what you’re looking for,” she shared.
“The profiles are about 47 to 50 pages each, and they’re filled with all this amazing information, like genetic background for the man and his entire family," GG continued. "I hate to joke about it, but you know the Build-A-Bear Workshop? It’s almost like that, but it’s a human. Build-A-Baby!”
Prior to her search, GG had some very specific criteria for her sperm donor that she laid out in an interview with The Daily Dish in August 2018, which you can view, above.
GG told PEOPLE at her baby shower how "proud" she is to show everyone that she can raise a family on her own. “You know, I could have focused my energy into finding a partner to have a baby with; that wouldn’t have been hard," she shared. "But I’m totally choosing this because this is what I want; this is what I’m ready for. I love that.”
