Gregg Leakes Takes a Stand Against Cancer with a Charitable Website
During his battle with cancer, The Real Housewives of Atlanta husband is doing his part to help others in need.
NeNe Leakes revealed in June that her husband, Gregg Leakes, had been diagnosed with cancer. Since then, The Real Housewives of Atlanta couple have given frequent updates about the state of Gregg's health. For example, in early November, NeNe shared that he was trying to decide whether or not to undergo chemo and a few weeks later, Gregg took to social media to thank followers for their support and to ask for their continued prayers.
Now it seems the RHOA husband is taking that grateful attitude and paying it forward. On December 3, NeNe tweeted, "Hey America, my hubby [Gregg Leakes] says he wants to bring more awareness to this dreadful disease called CANCER! Winning everyday in every way. Check out his new site and show your support."
The site, can-sir.org, features a welcoming message from Gregg that reads, "In the fight against cancer- yes, We Can-Sir, keep this dreadful disease in check and people can learn to live much more meaningful & healthy lives." He also includes a personal note, writing, "Often times, early detection can save lives before it has to become a way of life. That’s why, I’m personally encouraging ALL men especially, to put aside the false understanding of taking regular cancer prevention exams ... If you have this disease, you are NEVER alone... [p]rayer [w]orks, [develop] a strong network of family and friends to lean on. Continue to live your life to its fullest and be ready, willing and able to encourage someone else in our same position. When we focus on others, we take the focus off ourselves and we grow. I [p]ray for every person, not just me, women and children too, who are suffering “thru” this disease and I say to each of you, be strong, vigilant and become unmovable in your resolve to do what it takes to become better. Here’s to our future and our living and loving life..."
Visitors to the site can purchase items with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society, according to the site, which says, "Please show your support of my movement to make it [known], cancer- we see you... Get your mugs, caps & t-shirts and help us to keep moving forward in helping others with cancer."
